Ask.com AskEraser

Ask.com, a popular search engine, announced that it will go to greater links to protect users privacy.Company developed a new feature called the “AskEraser” which allows users to delete their search activity information permanently from their server.

The feature will eliminate all cookies on the user’s computer that are associated with the ask.com site, and by sending a query to the company’s server which will delete all previous search-related information gathered for the user. The service is free and the process takes only a few hours.

This development seems to be a way of increasing user privacy, and dispelling fears that many web surfers have about the growing amount of information online companies collect pertaining to their web-surfing habits.

Windows Tips

Here are some useful tips to make you use windows better. I will add more tips soon.

First one is about Internet Explorer 7. You can start it without add-ons. Add the parameter -extoff when starting the Internet Explorer 7 using a shortcut or the command line. This will load Internet Explorer 7 without any add-ons.

You can’t rename the recycle bin by default. To rename it open the "registry" and go to the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder. Then change the value of Attributes from 40 01 00 20 to 70 01 00 20. Go back to the Recycle Bin, left-click it and hit F2 to rename it afterwards.

Windows Operating system displays only a handful of system tray icons at once. If you would like to display every icon right-click the start menu button and select "properties". Uncheck Hide Inactive Icons to display all icons. You could alternatively click on customize and select items that you always want to see.

You may want to display all devices in Device Manager even those that have been removed by the user. Press Windows+R, then type "cmd" and hit enter. Now enter the command set devmgr_show_non_present_devices = 1 and afterwards start devmgmt.msc, click on "view" and select Show Hidden Devices.

I hope it helps some of you. More tips coming soon.
